Tate is Co-Founder of Hilmoe, Bertier & Marrero, LLP ("HBM"). He advises, represents and invests in companies. His representative role includes licensing, leases, software terms, and general business matters. He's had the privilege of serving as Chief Legal Officer to technology, manufacturing, and life science companies that include PORTL, Inc., Crystal Clear, Oppland Group, and Ecoplast, Inc. He has also devoted his practice to estate planning and business succession strategies.
Tate enjoys working with organizations on evolving privacy laws, data privacy and business strategy. He is an occasional guest speaker at Pepperdine's MBA program and Cal State San Bernardino's MBA program.
In his free time, Tate enjoys hanging out with his family, hiking, road biking and flying.
Tate graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Economics. He accepted a scholarship to Thomas Jefferson School of Law, San Diego, CA and attained his Juris Doctorate. He completed his J.D. while a visiting student at Pepperdine University School of Law, Malibu, CA.
Tate received his Privacy Law and Data Protection Certification from the University of Pennsylvania.
